4/29/2023 0 Comments Burly men at sea playtimeUnfortunately the victory conditions are quite narrow, forcing you to follow a unique development strategy for your bacteria to win, from what I could see. The game is funny enough, with different strands of mutation. Verdict: A simple strategy game where you try to make the human race go extinct by developing a virus or bacteria. not a bad game in the end, but a disappointing Ace Attorney. Finishing it after Aviary Attorney only adds salt to the wound, but the last case does get better, with multiple timelines, puzzles that makes sense and much less evidence gathering. Verdict: I had started earlier in the year, but the unfunny writing, slow pace, and pixel hunting puzzles kept me at bay for a long time. Too bad the main narrative stays mostly away from such things. the game's saving grace is the narrative weaved through the files left on each computer, that allow you to make connections and deductions without the game hinting at it. Verdict: A pleasant if simplistic hacking game, where the fantasy of being a hacker is sold well enough, but the "puzzles" the game asks us to crack are nearly always identical. The game does keep things fresh with a steady drip feed of weapons and skills, unfortunately, they feel a bit underused by the time the game ends. If he hadn't spoken while I was fighting for my life, swarmed by hordes of monsters rushing me, I might have been able to pay more attention. Verdict: Top down brawler with a narrator speaking nearly all the time, I wasn't as in love with the game as most others apparently, finding the level design too abstract to sell me the world the narrator kept babbling about. Talking about it too much would spoil the surprise, but it's a delightful game. Verdict: Another pleasant surprise, this meta game ostensibly about a runner game with a pony intrigues and charms you right away, into a self referential world, done much better than in SuperHot for instance. The story is engrossing (and timely what with the yellow jackets), the dialogue is delightfully funny, and the detective work is simple but balanced with open investigations that can see you waste some time and branch out depending on your choices and progression. Verdict: A very pleasant surprise that this lawyer/detective game with talking animals set in 1848 Paris. I've bought the last episode and will happily see this series through to the end. Still an enjoyable moment with the characters. Verdict: A longer and more elaborate chapter in the Blackwell universe, the indie point & click games about helping ghosts through to the afterlife. Verdict: A good story about a romance, the game cleverly and inventively expresses the character's emotions through the interactions, ranging from tense arguments, mindnumbing routine or simply falling in love. Verdict: A small scandinavian tale generator, with cute art style and flowery writing, let down by a too short structure and restrictive interactions The year has finally ended, and so a recap is in order.īut before, a look at December, where I tied up loose ends and picked some long overdue games for a quick across the finish line.
